A Crazed Woman Waiting

Well into our second adoption paperwork "labor"... I may be getting a little crazy - but I'll let you decide!

The evening we received notice of our LOA, we worked till 3:00 am the next morning working on filling out forms that had been sitting on my computer for months. We had debated diving into them just the day before, but decided we had plenty of time. There were other things to do. Little did we know it would be the next day they were due.

The next morning came early. We had to get the girls ready for school and out the door. I had made arrangements to stay home for the day so I could the wait for the actual LOA. The LOA comes with another pile of paperwork that has to have a quick turnaround. I knew I only had a few "child-free" hours in which to work. Our China coordinator had said the package would be here by 10:30. So, of course after Mei sent me the tracking info, I began vigorously tracking it -- like it would help it get here quicker. At 3:00 am that morning before we got into bed following the paperwork marathon, it was in Kentucky. I thought it was a very odd route from Charleston SC. I could have told them a better route to travel faster I believe!

As I paced and waited for the package, I decided to go back over the paperwork just double checking ourselves because we were extremely tired. We had made a mistake! Panic! So I emailed Mei to make sure that it was a mistake... It WAS and not only on one form, but on three forms. I prayed that my printer ink would last long enough to make the three copies - it did and all was finally fixed.

But then I had to pace again - do laundry - pace - do laundry - pace until the brown truck rolled in at about 11:50!!

I guess I should have run out to hug him... but I ran out the front door and yelled, "YOU ARE SO LATE!" He told me a story about being a substitute driver :) and he had gotten lost. I"m sure by now he thought I was a crazy woman! He was turning around quickly to get out of the area, when I asked to take his picture! At that point he was probably afraid of me! He said "yes". I finally explained that the package held the information for our sweet girl in China - maybe then he understood because he then took a picture of me with the package also.
