THE Modified PLAN

Lorraine here.... just talked with Bridget!

What an afternoon they have had just trying to get out of Asheville... flights are being cancelled left and right due to weather all over the US. They almost missed a flight because they missed the call - ran to go through security and found that Mia's sippy cup looked "suspicious" - tested with a testing strip! Then her medicine looked suspicious - tested it with a testing strip! Took everything out of Bridget's backpack and then went running toward the plane without the backpack! The security guy had to run after her with the pack...Mia's passport was dropped... finally got on the plane - seats were taken - moved the people to new seats - settled and the pilot came on to say there was a problem and everyone needed to deplane! So after waiting in the main area for 2 hours and running breathlessly to the plane, there they were again to wait in the secured waiting area!

As I talked to her (about 4:40 pm), their flight was called and they were boarding. The luggage is checked through to Beijing! Let's pray the flight in Atlanta is still on and that they can make it to the gate in time to board. There is still a chance of making up the time if they have a smooth sail between now and 6:00... Then there is a five hour layover in LA until they leave for Beijing.

That's the up to the minute report!! The Kings are up to all of the travel antics again! Let's hope it is uneventful from here on out, because it seems all too familiar! Stay tuned for updates!

UPDATE ONE: The plane is scheduled to depart at 5:08 p.m.!!
UPDATE TWO: The flight is delayed 30 more minutes - look like the original flight in Atlanta is missed... unless it is delayed too
UPDATE THREE: We just thought it would be a nail biter!! But our nerves are already shot! They arrived in Atlanta at 6:30 - sat on the plane for a while and somehow made the 6:40 flight! It was a miracle - the next flight would have gotten them into LA 5 minutes after the plane to Beijing took off! Now it's a five hour flight to LA... I hope they sleep!
UPDATE FOUR: They arrived in LA at about 8:30 California time and left for Beijing at midnight their time... this means they are about 3 hours into their marathon flight. But they made the connection with time to spare!
